Some unusual learning opportunities at Keio SFC

⇰ Multi-disciplinary projects - Neuroscience + Music + Story Telling + History + Photography + Acting + Cooking + Games

⇰In 2016 & 17, renowned musician Ralph Rolle came to SFC to give English lectures and music clinics. He spoke on the topics of art, business, history, and social issues.  His 2017 visit culminated in a bilingual drum clinic with Professor Shinya Fujii's research group. Around 200 people attended.

In 2015 & 16, Professor Gary McLeod visited Keio SFC on numerous occasions to work with SFC students. He gave lectures on rephotography, videography and other subjects. Here are some photos of SFC students "Dancing in the rain". Unfortunately, by the time we were ready to shoot, the rain had stopped, thus making for an even more amazing and memorable spectacle.

⇰ For several years, Professor Rand has taught English through Drama at SFC. To her, all the world is a stage, and it is not at all uncommon on sunny Tuesday mornings to see Nerida leading groups of "shy" Japanese students acting stunningly "un-shy" by the Yukichi Fukuzawa statue as they do improv.

⇰ The English in Action extracurricular program was started in 2012 by Professor Juanita Heigham and has been led by Professor Tiina Matikainen since 2016. It involves students in various presentation, conversational, and culinary adventures.

⇰ Professor Jon Trace has taught courses on board games and role-playing games since 2016. Unfortunately, no pictures at this time (visiting the class was too much fun, and gameplay and English interactivity took center stage)!
